General FAQ’s
+ Do I need to be on-site for the drone operation?
Most of the time it is not necessary for you to be on-site for the shoot; however, you are welcome to join us if you feel it will be beneficial. We will share our operation intake form with you prior to scheduling the project. This form allows you to describe your preferences, goals, and objectives in full detail. We can follow-up online or over the phone to clarify any uncertainties.
+ What weather and time constraints do you have?
We do not fly in rainy or windy (25+ MPH) conditions, or when minimum visibility is less than three miles. We also fly only between the period of 30 minutes before official sunrise to 30 minutes after official sunset.
+ What kind of drones do you fly?
Eye Fly Drones fly drones manufactured by DJI Enterprises. DJI is the industry leader for drones and currently owns approximately 70% of the market share. The specific model of drone that will be used on your project can vary; however, all are minimally equipped with cameras capable of shooting video in 4K resolution.
+ I was told this location is too close to an airport. Can you fly near airports?
It depends. There are many locations and areas that are either off-limits or have additional height restrictions. We can fly near, or even at, most airports if we can obtain the necessary legal permission. If needed, we will seek waivers through the FAA on your behalf. If you are unsure of the viability of a location, send us an email or give us a call. We're happy to help look!
+ Can you capture the entire property in one photo?
This largely depends on the size of your property and the character of your project. Our pilots can legally fly at heights of up to 400 feet in most locations. As a general guide, the drone can capture about 20 acres in a single, nadir (camera pointing directly down), shot from 400 feet. If you prefer oblique shots (captured at an angle), the imagery can include a much wider territory as the camera will be pointing out into the horizon.
+ What is your turnaround time?
A one week notice prior to an operation is ideal; however, we understand that instances arise which may require less notice. Schedule depending, we are often able to schedule an operation the same day. We are happy to work with you to move more quickly if you need it. We can deliver unedited still photos within 12 hours and edited still photos within 48 hours following the time of the shoot. Video files can be delivered within 1-10 days depending on the level of editing requested.
+ How will I get my files?
In most instances, we will deliver digital photos to you via Google Drive. You will receive an email that includes a link to your online photo gallery where you can download all these files to a local device.
+ What file format will you use?
Eye Fly Drones strives to deliver the highest quality imagery possible; therefore, unless otherwise requested by the client, we shoot photos in RAW (DNG) format and film in either MP4 or MOV format. The RAW (DNG) images are converted to JPG when edited.
+ What is a RAW, or DNG, photo?
A RAW photo is produced by all the raw data from the camera sensor. The image is large and minimally processed and is ideal for professional editing within an application like Adobe Photoshop.
+ What photo resolution can I expect?
We deliver high-resolution 4K video and 20 megapixel imagery to our clients.
+ What is your hourly rate?
We do not charge an hourly rate. We provide a final price quote that is all inclusive of services such as travel, equipment, and time. We eliminate that uncertainty and unnecessary stress by billing only the amount you are originally quoted.
+ Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. You will receive an invoice via PayPal when the shoot is complete. You can pay with any major credit card.
